Japan's vehicle sales climbed to the highest level in six years in March, data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA) showed Monday.
Vehicle sales rose 78.2 percent year-on-year in March to 497,959, the highest figure since March 2006, when sales totaled 558,221 units.
The March growth rate followed 31.9 percent increase in February and 40.7 percent rise in January.
Passenger car registrations climbed 88.6 percent from a year earlier in March to 208,783 units. This followed a 31.2 percent rise in February and 54.2 percent rise in January.
