Swiss Stocks Drift Lower In Light Volume

The Swiss stock market is showing modest losses in mid-day trading on Tuesday.

Trading has been relatively quiet through the morning, with stocks losing ground in low volume. There is little corporate news to drive trading and little real downward pressure.

In the afternoon, some manufacturing data are due out in the U.S.

The benchmark SMI is down 0.36 percent to 6,276.80. The SLI has declined 0.30 percent to 961.21. The SPI is off 0.22 percent to 5,774.67.

Shares of Lonza are showing a notable gain, climbing by 3.5 percent. The company has named a new CEO, Richard Ridinger.
