US To Host G8 Foreign Ministers Meet Next Week

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will host on April 11-12 her Group of Eight (G8) counterparts for the G8 Foreign Ministers meeting at the Blair House in Washington, D.C. They will discuss a range of country-specific, regional, and transnational topics, the State Department said in a statement on Wednesday.

The United States which holds the G8 Presidency for 2012 will host the G8 Summit at Camp David on May 18-19. The conclave will address a broad range of economic, political and security issues. It will be followed by NATO summit in Chicago on May 20-21.

G8 is a forum of the governments of eight of the world's largest economies, which meets annually to deal with major economic and political issues facing their domestic societies and the international community as a whole. It consists of France, United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy and Canada.
