Dutch consumer price inflation held steady for the second consecutive month in March, data from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.

The consumer price index increased 2.5 percent annually in March, matching the pace in the previous two months. A bigger increase in clothing prices compared to February had an upward effect on inflation, the agency said. Meanwhile, slower increase in food prices had a downward effect.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, measured for EU comparison purposes, increased 2.9 percent annually in March. The inflation has been at this level since January. The European Central Bank targets inflation "below, but close to 2 percent".
