George Jones was released from the hospital on Wednesday, April 4 after a six day stay. He was admitted after canceling a performance in Peoria, Illinois and then diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection.
A rep for the country legend said that he "wants to thank all his friends and fans for their prayers and well wishes over the past few days." He added that he will take a few days to rest before striking back out on the road.
The "He Stopped Loving Her Today" singer is scheduled to hit the road again on April 20 for a show in Minnesota. The tour is scheduled to wrap on November 24 in Bossier City, Louisiana. The canceled Peoria concert has been rescheduled for June 23.
"I think if you ask anyone my age why they keep working, they'll say, 'If I retire, what am I going to retire to?'" he told Pantagraph.com just two weeks ago. "What would I do with my time?"
