European Online Recruitment Activity Rises In March

European online recruitment activity increased in March, data from Monster Worldwide showed Friday.

Employment grew 8 percent in March from a year ago, but the rate of expansion eased from 10 percent seen in February. The index rose to 142 from 138 in February.

Although the growth rate decelerated in March, Germany registered a double digit annual growth at 23 percent. According to the report, 20 of the 24 industry sectors monitored by the index in March exhibited positive annual growth trends.

"While overall online recruitment remains positive with the Index exhibiting both month-over-month and annual growth, this is combated by a broader deceleration across key markets and industries," said Alan Townsend, Vice President of Sales Readiness and Business Operations for Monster Europe.

The Monster employment index is a monthly gauge of online job demand based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career web sites and online job listings across Europe.
