Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez returned home early on Thursday after his latest round of cancer treatment in Cuba.
The 57-year-old socialist leader came down from his plane unaided after it landed in his home state of Barinas. He was received at the airport by relatives, Vice-President Elías Jaua and several Government Ministers.
"The socialist revolution is irreversible ... I continue recuperating," he said in a brief speech on state TV, wishing Venezuelans a happy Easter weekend and saying he was "now more Christian than ever."
Chavez, who is expected to be re-elected for a new six-year term in the October election, said his latest round of radiation treatment had gone well and the results of all his medical tests were positive.
Chavez, who had made it clear that he would be "coming and going" between Venezuela and Cuba during his treatment, said he was determined to overcome the cancer - and win the October poll.
