Bluefly Slips To Q4 Loss

Bluefly, Inc. (BFLY) reported a net loss of $6.2 million or $0.22 per share, compared to net income of $0.3 million or $0.01 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Net sales increased 3% to $29.4 million from $28.6 million a year earlier.

Gross profit margin for the fourth quarter was 21.9% compared to 34.9% in the fourth quarter of 2010. Total operating expenses for the quarter increased 30% to $12.6 million from $9.6 million last year.

Ciena Corp., a provider of communications networking solutions, on Thursday reported a turnaround to profit in the fourth quarter on higher revenues and lower expenses.
