Toni Braxton Goes Independent From Record Label

Toni Braxton has left her record label, Atlantic, and will release her music independently from now on.

Speaking on The Wendy Williams show, Braxton says she is following advice given to her by Prince:

"I'm listening to Prince. He said, 'Toni, you should do it yourself. Record companies are great, but the new movement is Internet and put it out all digital and you don't really need them for that,' so wish me luck. I'm going out on a limb."

On the show, she also spoke on the travails of filming her reality series, Braxton Family Values:

"It is extremely invasive. Everywhere you go in your life is 'there,' and for me, I don't like that."

Braxton Family Values aired a reunion special April 3 on WE.
