California metal band Slayer has released their very own wine. The wine is named "Reign In Blood" after their 1986 album of the same name; it is a Cabernet Sauvignon made in their home state.
Currently, the wine is only on sale in Sweden and fans will have to order it online to try it out. Helping the band with the launch is the start-up company Brands For Fans. The company's founder, Sari H. Wilholm, says that the Sweden-only launch was part of a larger strategy.
"Sweden is a good market to start with," says Brands For Fans founder. "We are a small country but we have incredibly dedicated fans, which makes it worthwhile to do the test launch in Sweden."
Slayer is not the first band to move into the wine market. Australian band AC/DC launched four types of wine last year and sold it at shows on their tour.
On the music front, Slayer are currently working on new material for the follow-up to their 2009 record World Painted Blood.
