Japanese electronics maker Sony Corp. (SNE: Quote) plans to cut a total of 10,000 jobs worldwide, or about 6% of its workforce, possibly by the end of this year, The Nikkei newspaper reported on Monday, citing sources.
The company, which has forecast a fourth straight annual loss, will cut as many as 5,000 job cuts through reorganizing businesses making chemicals and small-and medium-sized panels, the report said.
Sony had 168,200 employees as of March 31.
