Electronic Arts Named Worst Company In America

Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:EA) has been named the worst company in America by voters/readers of The Consumerist. The reason, it is speculated, is the poor reception of the video game creator's game Mass Effect 3. EA has promised a new, extended version of the game for release this summer.

In the poll, which tallied over 250,000 votes, EA edged second place Bank of America, which received nearly 36% of the nods. It is the second consecutive year Bank of America has finished runner up; last year, the bank was edged by British Petroleum.

"We're sure that bank presidents, oil, tobacco and weapons companies are all relieved they weren't on the list this year," Electronic Arts spokesman John Reseburg told the Hollywood Reporter. "We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide."

Mass Effect 3 has sold 2.8 million copies worldwide. Many were upset with the inconclusive nature of the game's ending.

Electronic Arts Inc. is a global interactive entertainment software company. EA develops, publishes, and distributes interactive software worldwide for video game systems, personal computers, wireless devices and the Internet.
