Band Perry hit up the Doak Elementary School in Greenville, Tennessee, late last week to congratulate the students on their successful cancer fundraiser.

The school raised $40,000 for the American Cancer Society, a cause that the band says is near and dear to their hearts:

"It's in honor of a dear friend of ours, Miss Lisa White, who passed away from cancer," lead singer Kimberly Perry told local TV reporters. "So it was really amazing just to honor her life today and to raise money for such an amazing organization."

The band hung around with students chatting and signing autographs afterwards.

The group resumes touring on Tuesday, April 10 when they take the stage at the All for the Hall benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.
