Ron Wood's painting exhibit, Faces, Time and Places, opened Monday, April 9, at the 498 Broome St. Gallery in SoHo, New York City.

The Rolling Stones axeman has long dabbled in painting and his subjects include his fellow bandmates and other famous friends such as Slash and Jack Nicholson.

"Well, Keith [Richards] being an artist, and Charlie [Watts], they were kind of, 'Oh, you've done it wrong, you've overworked it, blah blah blah,'" Wood tells the Daily News of his bandmates and critics. "That was in the old days. But now they've kind of owned up to, 'Wow, you're pretty good.'"

Wood adds that friend and fellow artist Damien Hirst helped him focus on painting after he got out of rehab:

"There are brushes, easels, canvases, paints, aprons, first aid kits, eyewash, everything," he adds. "He managed to supply me with enough stuff for an art college."
