Jury Selection Underway For Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial

Jury selection began this week in the trial of the man accused of murdering Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother. One of the key subjects of the process will be Hudson's celebrity, as lawyers for William Balfour, the man accused of the crime, attempt to keep her fame from influencing the jury.

The defense and prosecution have reportedly prepared a 36-page questionnaire to aid in the selection process. According to various media source, it includes several questions relating to J-Hud.

"Have you ever seen a movie in which Jennifer Hudson played any role?"; "Have you ever seen Jennifer Hudson perform in person?"; and, "Do you belong to any organization for which Jennifer Hudson is a spokesperson," were a few of the questions asked.

Balfour, the estranged husband of J-Hud's sister, is connected to the murders by a gun police recovered. Prosecutors argue that he committed the crime in a "jealous rage." Balfour, it is argued, thought that his wife was seeing another man and allegedly told his wife "her family would suffer if he saw her with other men."

Opening statements in the trial are scheduled to begin April 23.
