A new Washington Post/ABC news poll says that Google has edged out Apple as the top technology company. The national survey of consumers shows that 82 percent have a favorable opinion of the internet giant. Meanwhile, 9 percent have an unfavorable opinion and 10 percent are undecided.
Apple was not far behind with 74 percent expressing a favorable opinion thereof. Facebook, the least favorable of the top three, generated a 58 percent favorable response. Twitter lagged behind with a 34 percent favorability rating.
The poll shows great strides taken by Google over the past seven years in the eyes of consumers. In 2005, the company's favorable response was at 62 percent, two years later it had jumped to 73 percent.
Both Google and Apple did best with households earning more than $100,000 a year, 93 percent of respondents expressed a favorable opinion of Google, 91 percent of Apple.
