It's been a busy week for Mattel Toys, who have announced a new special edition "Hunger Games" Barbie doll. The doll is fashioned after the film's main character, Katniss Everdeen and features the teen girl in her outfit from recent film, complete with bow and arrow.
In the book and film, Katniss volunteers to enter a competition fighting for her life against 23 other teen contestants from across her fictitious country. According to Mattel the doll is already backordered and the first shipments are expected to go out on August 1.
"The Katniss Barbie doll depicts the strong and ever resourceful heroine as she enters the arena to defend herself in a brutal Government sponsored game which she has entered after volunteering to take her younger sisters place," reps from Mattel say in a press release.
The famed line of dolls also added a new Presidential Barbie this week.
