Fluor Corp. (FLR) announced that the U.S. Army awarded the company a new Task Order to perform work in Africa under the Army's Logistics Capabilities Program IV or LOGCAP IV.
The Task Order is in support of U.S. Africa Command's mission to protect American interests and strengthen Africa's defense capabilities in the region. Fluor will book the work into backlog in the first quarter of 2012.
Fluor said that its scope of work will include delivering logistical support throughout Continental Africa and the simultaneous construction of several remote camps. Fluor noted that it will also provide the subsequent camp operations and logistical support services over the next 21 months. Support services will include the provisioning of food, fuel, water, laundry, showers, vehicles, and power generation and maintenance. The camps will provide a base of operations for U.S. troops who are advising and assisting African military forces across the continent.
