Garbage is getting ready to release their fifth studio album and in a recent interview they claim that the album is heavily influenced by artists of the past like David Bowie.
Lead singer Shirley Manson said in the interview with Ustream that while making the album, which will be titled Not Your Kind of People, she had been looking back to "all these people that built my musical fabric" like Bowie, Siouxsie Sioux and the Cocteau Twins.
Drummer/producer Butch Vig added that he'd taken inspiration from punk/prog rockers Suicide and their first album.
After being asked what they had been up to since their 2005 album Bleed Like Me, Manson said: "I don't really know what I've been doing . . . We spent our time living life, then [we were] ready to record a record and here we are!"
Garbage will release Not Your Kind Of People on May 14.
