The Band Perry, who are going into the studio in May, have tossed out Rick Rubin's name among those who they would like to have produce their record:
"He's really brilliant. He was really fantastic. We took a meeting with him a couple of weeks ago," Kimberly Perry tells TheBoot.com. "He was basically half therapist, half producer. So we're excited."
However, Kimberly stopped short of confirming him as producer:
"To be determined. Keep your eyes out for that."
Rubin's production credits are as long as they are diverse and include acts such as Tom Petty, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Dixie Chicks, Aerosmith, Neil Diamond, Rage Against the Machine, Johnny Cash and, most recently, ZZ Top.
Kimberly adds that the group has been careful to avoid the so-called sophomore slump:
"It is the second album, but we've been doing this for 13 years, so it really is the next step."
