Poland's current account deficit decreased less than economists expected in February, preliminary data released by the central bank showed Thursday.
The current account showed a deficit of EUR1.585 billion in February, markedly lower than the upwardly revised EUR1.879 billion deficit recorded in January. Economists were looking for a deficit of EUR1.146 billion.
The balance in the goods trade account was a deficit of EUR838 million in February, lower than the EUR844 million deficit seen in the previous month. Meanwhile, the services trade account showed a surplus of EUR277 million, up from January's EUR259 million surplus.
The deficit in the income account widened to EUR1.183 billion in February from EUR1.141 billion in the preceding month, while the current transfers account turned to a surplus of EUR159 million from a EUR153 million deficit, the agency said.
