Britney Spears is reportedly nearing a deal to join the X-Factor team as a judge. Reports are that the Spears camp has finally agreed in principle to a $15 million fee for the role.
"Both camps were back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee," says one insider to E! News. "That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it's been sorted. All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality."
Spears would fill one of the two seats left open after X-Factor head Simon Cowell cut loose judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger after the first season.
"The whole idea is to get eyeballs in front of the show," Brad Adgate, senior vice president at Horizon Media, told the NY Daily News. "When you look at the big name judges, you think of [The Voice judges] Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera and [American Idol's] Jennifer Lopez. He's been searching for a blockbuster name that's going to draw in viewers, particulary young viewers."
X-Factor launched last fall.
