Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) gapped open higher Thursday and rose steadily until mid-morning. The stock traded in a range for the remainder of the session and closed up by 1.69 at $25.10 on above average volume.
Hewlett-Packard broke out of a trading range and set over a one-month high.
