The Australian dollar edged sharply lower against its major rivals following a report showed that the Chinese economic growth expanded to 8.1 percent in the first quarter, less than analysts had expected. The aussie is presently quoted at 84.38 against the yen, 1.2665 against the euro, 1.0405 against the greenback and 1.2546 against the NZ dollar.
