The US dollar edged higher on Friday morning in Asia as risk-sentiment waned after disappointing GDP data from China, which came in at a lower-than-forecast 8.1 percent in the first quarter.
The greenback is presently quoted at 1.5944 against the pound and 0.9128 against the franc, up from recent lows of 1.5972 and 0.9107, respectively. The dollar also advanced to 1.3167 against the euro from previous low of 1.3202.
