Sugarland's Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles traveled to Charleston, West Virginia on Thursday to begin two days of video depositions of the Indiana State Fair stage collapse, which occured last year on August 13 and killed seven people, while injuring many more.
The Indiana State Fair Commission were given reports from two companies, Thornton Tomasetti and Witt Associates, who were hired to investigate why the stage had collapsed early on Thursday.
They both came to the conclusion that the stage structure had not met industry standards and that there was no emergency plan developed in case an accident were to happen.
"In all the back-and-forth between the lawyers, the suggestion's been made that we've somehow been trying to avoid having to answer questions about last summer's terrible tragedy. This is simply not true," reads a written statement provided to media in Charleston by Nettles and Bush.
