Josh Turner sat down with theboot.com for an in depth interview which covered a range of topics including his new album, Punching Bag.
Turner says he got the idea for the name of the title track from personal experience:
"I had just had one of those days, and I came home and was standing in the closet with my wife and I unloaded on her about my day. I told her, 'Sometimes I feel like a punching bag, like life is beating me up.'"
He added that he ironed out the idea with his writing partner, Pat McLaughlin:
"We knew it had to have attitude . . . We all have those days when you feel like you're against the world, every little thing goes wrong and your blood pressure is up. And you feel like punching somebody! [laughs] I wanted to convey that emotion within the song, and I think we definitely got the point across."
