Amicus Therapeutics Inc. (FOLD: Quote), a biopharmaceutical company, said it has named William "Chip" Baird, III as chief financial officer, effective today. Baird, with over 15 years of experience in finance and strategic planning, would be responsible for all Finance, Accounting and Investor Relations activities.

Baird, who joins Amicus from PTC Therapeutics Inc., would report directly to Chairman and Chief Executive, John Crowley. He worked at PTC for more than 10 years in positions of increasing responsibility.

U.S. Durable Goods Orders Rise 3.3% In April, More Than Expected

After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.
