Charlie Watts To Play With Les Paul Trio

Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts has announced that he will sit in with the Les Paul Trio as part of the weekly tribute the trio performs to their late bandleader on July 2, part of eight sets the legendary drummer will perform with his jazz band over the course of four nights.

Watts also announced that he will be performing a series of dates at the Iridium in New York City beginning on June 29.

"Jazz is my passion," Watts said in a statement. "This is the music that I really want to do." He then joked, "The Stones are merely an annoying pastime."

Fellow Stones member Mick Taylor will also be performing at the esteemed jazz venue as well, staging a six-night run from May 9 through May 14.
