WellPoint Inc.'s (WLP) subsidiary National Government Services said Monday that it was awarded a contract to support the Next Generation Desktop, or Ngd, for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the next five years.
The contract, valued at over $111 million over five years, has been held by National Government Services since the inception of NGD.
NGD is a desktop application used by Medicare Contact Center Customer Service Representatives, or CSR, to answer millions of calls from Medicare beneficiaries The application reduces time and improves the CSRs ability to provide better service for inquiries. It also allows CSRs to access information the beneficiary may have previously entered into the Medicare website, MyMedicare.gov.
