The Beastie Boys pulled out of their scheduled performance at the induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week. The hip-hop icons reportedly canceled their appearance just hours before they were set to hit the stage, citing an unspecified illness plaguing Adam "MCA" Yauch.

"Beastie Boys regret that Adam 'MCA' Yauch will be unable to join Mike 'Mike D' Diamond and Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz at the band's induction into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame," a statement from the band read.

"Mike, Adam and Adam are truly grateful for the honour but with only two of the three Beastie Boys attending, they will unfortunately not be able to perform at the ceremony," the concluded.

The Beasties were not, however, the only high-profile act to pull out of the event. Rod Stewart also backed out due to illness and Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose issued a widely publicized statement claiming that he did not want to appear alongside the group's original lineup.
