India's annual inflation rate based on the general consumer price index rose to 9.47 percent in March from 8.83 percent in February, the Central Statistical Office said Wednesday.
Prices of food and beverages rose 8.22 percent from March last year. Prices of vegetables and fruits rose 9.55 percent and 6.65 percent respectively.
The price index for fuel and light increased 11.8 percent year-on-year and clothing and footwear prices climbed 12.5 percent.
