Platinum Underwriters Holdings Turns To Profit In Q1 - Quick Facts

Platinum Underwriters Holdings Ltd. (PTP) reported first-quarter net income of $53.3 million or $1.49 per share, compared to net loss of $157.2 million or $4.20 per share last year.

On average, six analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $1.01 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Total revenue for the quarter declined to $187.55 million from $215.26 million in the comparable quarter last year, while two analysts were looking for revenue of $199.93 million for the quarter.
