A collection of vintage guitars belonging to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers has been returned after they were stolen earlier this week. The instruments were taken from a sound stage on which the band was rehearsing for their upcoming U.S. tour.

The instruments included a 1967 Rickenbacker 360 12-string, a 1965 Gibson Les Paul SG TV Junior, a 1967 Epiphone Sheridan, a Mike Campbell signature model Dusenberg and a Fender Broadcaster. The instruments were valued at a total of well over $100,000.

Police in Culver City, California have since arrested 51-year-old security guard Daryl Emmette Washington, who reportedly attempted to sell one of the instruments at a local pawnshop for $250.

"I am extremely grateful to the Culver City Police Department for a job well done and touched by the outpouring of good wishes and concern from our fans and friends," Petty wrote on the band's website.
