Universal Forest Products Swings To Q1 Profit

Universal Forest Products, Inc. (UFPI) reported net income for the first quarter of $4.2 million or $0.21 per share, compared to a net loss of $3.7 million or $0.19 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.03 per share for the first quarter.

Net sales for the first quarter rose 18% to $457.11 million from $387.23 million a year ago. Net sales increased in each of the Company's five markets, with double-digit increases in four.
