Consumer confidence in Belgium remained stable in April, after showing a marked recovery in the previous month, data from a survey by the National Bank of Belgium showed Thursday.
The consumer confidence index remained unchanged from the previous month at -12 in April, sharply higher than the February reading of -20.
Belgian households were more optimistic about the condition of their personal finances in the next twelve months, with the corresponding sub-indicator edging up to -3 in April from -4 in March.
Households' outlook for the country's economic conditions in the coming months improved in April. The corresponding index rose to -8 from March's reading of -10.
Meanwhile, consumers turned more downbeat about the future unemployment situation, with the relevant indicator rising to 35 in April from 33 in March. The measure of households' expectations of their saving prospects in the next twelve months remained unchanged at -1 during the month.
