Wes Anderson's latest, "Moonrise Kingdom," is set to open The 65th Cannes Film Festival.
Other big indie names on the bill include David Cronenberg ("Cosmopolis"), Andrew Dominik ("Killing Them Softly"), Michael Haneke ("Amour"), Walter Salles ("On the Road"), Lee Daniels ("The Paperboy") and John Hillcoat ("Lawless") among others.
Lee Daniels' "The Paperboy," is one of the bigger names on that list as he directed the break out indie
flick "Precious." The cast of "The Paperboy" includes Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman and John John Cusack. It is based on the Pete Dexter novel of the same name.
The animated blockbuster "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" will also make a showing at the international festival.
Paul Anderson's "The Master" (featuring Philip Seymour Hoffman as a Scientology like religious zealot) will not make its much anticipated debut at Cannes as it is not yet finished.
