Karumba, Australia exported their first annual live shipment of cattle Thursday. The shipment was headed to Indonesia with about 2,000 head of cattle on board.

The Karumba shipment follows the season's first live export boat of the year, which left from Townsville in north Queensland last weekend. After reaching Indonesia, the export carrier will then head to Malaysia and the Philippines, according to media outlets.

John Kaus, director of South East Asian Livestock Services, said it's the first of several ships expected to leave Karumba in the next three months, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

"At this stage, we have got about five or six ships coming out of Karumba up until the end of July," Kaus added.
