George Jones has shelved his upcoming shows on April 20 and 21 in Minnesota and South Dakota due to illness. The 80-year-old country legend was hospitalized for an upper respiratory infection earlier this month and released a statement saying he needs more time to recover.
According to theboot.com, the cancellation was ordered by doctors and Jones is resting comfortably at his home in Tennessee. The site also says that both shows will be rescheduled, though no dates have been released thus far.
Jones was forced to cancel a Peoria, Illinois show when he was admitted into the hospital. He spent nearly a week in care before he was released. The Peoria show has been rescheduled for June 23.
"I think if you ask anyone my age why they keep working, they'll say, 'If I retire, what am I going to retire to?'" he told Pantagraph.com earlier this month. "What would I do with my time?"
