Soundgarden's latest track "Live to Rise," the band's first new offering since reforming in 2010, is available now as a free download at iTunes. Fans can download the song until April 24.
Frontman Chris Cornell explains that while the song seems a bit off from what fans have come to expect from Soundgarden, that's part of the plan.
"Although 'Live to Rise' is not really what I think of as a necessarily family friendly song, but it's as close as we've ever come," Cornell said in a radio interview.
"Some of the songs on our new album are pretty far left of center, and sort of zero in on more of a hardcore Soundgarden fan and not necessarily a family that goes to see a film like that."
"Live to Rise" can also be found as part of the Avengers movie soundtrack Avengers Assemble.
