John Legend is speaking out in defense of his friend Kanye West after President Barack Obama called him a 'jackass,' not once, but twice.
"Kanye is my friend and he's never treated me like a jackass," Legend told Rap-Up. "He's one of the most talented artists we know in this generation and I feel very fortunate to be able to work with him."
President Obama first called West a 'jackass' in September of 2009 after West interrupted award speech by Taylor Swift during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. He then called West a 'jackass' again during a recent interview with the Atlantic after the president was asked about his initial comments. President Obama also said during the interviewer that he prefers Jay-Z to West, though he referred to West as 'smart' and 'talented.'
