George Zimmerman was released from jail after posting bond early Monday morning.
Zimmerman, 28, was charged with second-degree murder in the February shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman put up 10 percent, or $15,000, to make bail, which was set at $150,000, according to WESH TV.
The neighborhood watch volunteer left the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida, fitted with an electronic monitoring device to allow authorities to track his location, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Zimmerman left the jail with his bondsman wearing a brown Pittsburgh Steelers jacket and carrying a paper bag. He got in the back seat of a white BMW, and it is unknown where he will go, according to the Sentinel. His location will most likely remain private for safety reasons, as he has received several death threats, his lawyers have said.
In a Friday hearing, a judge set bail at $150,000 and ordered Zimmerman to wear the GPS tracking device. Zimmerman took the stand and spoke at the hearing.
"I wanted to say I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am, and I did not know if he was armed or not," Zimmerman said.
