Economic confidence in the Czech Republic deteriorated significantly in April, after improving modestly in the previous month, data released by the statistical office showed Tuesday.
The economic confidence index fell to 0.2 in April from 1.7 in March. In February, the reading was 1.6., the agency said.
Confidence among entrepreneurs weakened during the month, with the relevant sub-index falling to 7.5 from the previous month's reading of 9.6. The industrial confidence index dropped to -0.7 in April from 1.7 in March, while the trade confidence index decreased to 8 from 12. The services confidence index dropped during the month, while the construction confidence index improved slightly.
Meanwhile, Czech households were slightly less downbeat about the economic condition. The corresponding index edged up to -29.3 in April from -29.5 in the previous month.
