The release date for Aerosmith's upcoming album has been pushed back from the spring to the fall. This means that the album will not be out in time for the launch of their "Global Warming" tour which begins June 16 in Minneapolis.
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton, speaking with a radio station in St. John's, Newfoundland, said the album should be "just about done" in time for their Freshwater Suzuki Salmon Festival in Grand Falls Windsor on July 14.
The band's website also indicates that the album release is now set for September.
The as-yet untitled album will be Aerosmith's first collection of original material since 2001's Just Push Play. No reason has been given for pushing back the release date. Jack Douglas, who produced the band's 1970s material, is behind the boards for the new project.
