Educational services provider DeVry Inc (DV: Quote) reported third-quarter net income attributable to the company of $67.1 million or $1.00 per share, down from $92.9 or $1.32 per share.

On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.99 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter declined 4 percent to $540.8 million from $562.7 million a year ago.

Analysts expected revenues of $529.45 million for the quarter.

The company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, also came in above analysts' expectations as did its quarterly sales.
