The US currency extended its late Asian session's weakness against the major currencies of Europe in early London deals Wednesday.
The greenback reached 1.6173 against the pound around 3:40 am ET, its lowest level since September 6, 2011. On the downside, the dollar may test support around the key 1.62 level.
The US dollar fell against other European majors too, hitting 5-day lows of 1.3221 against the euro and 0.9091 versus the Swiss franc around the same time.
If the greenback weakens further, its likely support levels are seen at 1.3260 against the common currency and 0.9085 versus the alpine unit in the near-term.
