Molex Inc. (MOLX: Quote) posted third-quarter net income of $64.9 million or $0.36 per share compared to $68.1 million or $0.39 per share last year.

Quarterly revenues fell to $837.1 million from $874.5 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.34 per share on revenues of $848.61 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.
