The Chennai-based global pharma major Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. announced obtaining the approval from the US FDA for its Abbreviated New Drug Application or ANDA for Olanzapine Tablets in the strengths of 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 15mg and 20 mg.
Olanzapine tablets are the generic equivalent of Eli Lilly's Zyprexa tablets.
As per IMS Health, Mat 2011 data, the total sales for this product in the US were around $3.3 billion for the twelve months ended December 31, 2011.
At the BSE, Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals shares are currently trading at Rs.180.50, up 1.69 percent from the previous close.
