Sohu.com Inc. (SOHU: Quote) posted first-quarter net income attributable to the company of $23.11 million or $0.53 per share versus $44.81 million or $1.01 per share last year. Non-GAAP net income attributable to the company for the quarter fell to $23.67 million or $0.61 per share from $44.01 million or $1.13 per share in the previous year.
Total revenues for the three-month period rose to $226.6 million from $174.37 million in the prior year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.48 per share on revenues of $225.81 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Looking forward to the second quarter of 2012, the company expects non-GAAP net income attributable to it to be between $15.5 million and $17.5 million, and non-GAAP earnings per share to be between $0.40 and $0.45. Also, total revenues are expected to be between $244 million and $250 million. Analysts expect the company to earn $0.81 per share on revenues of $250.78 million for the quarter.
