Black Sabbath has confirmed an intimate gig in their hometown of Birmingham, England at the O2 Academy Birmingham on May 19.

The show comes just before their headline gig at London's Download Festival in June.

The band has been at work on a new album and was initially scheduled for an expansive summer tour before guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with cancer.

Though they've had to shelf the tour dates, Iommi announced in March that he's in recovery and had his last dose of chemo:

"I've had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon," he wrote on his official website. "The steroids were the worst. I've now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I'm told can be very tiring, so we'll see."
